Roger is a veteran venture capitalist who has been at Battery Ventures since 2001 and is currently a general partner. He invests in great entrepreneurs building innovative companies across the software and consumer landscape, including those focused on mar-tech. Past companies and exits include Angie’s List; BlueKai (acquired by Oracle); FreeWheel (acquired by Comcast); Groupon; Insitu (acquired by Boeing); Neoteris (acquired by NetScreen); TrialPay (acquired by Visa); and World Golf Tour (acquired by TopGolf). His current investments include 6Sense, Blue Jeans Network, Boost Media, BrightEdge, Earnest, Entelo, Gainsight, HotelTonight, Joya, Live Intent, Lotame, Narrative Science, Narvar, PrimeRevenue, Sumall, Trip.com, Upsight and Vera.
Before joining Battery, Roger spent 10 years as an entrepreneur and operator. Most recently, he was a co-founder of Corio, a leading managed-service provider that was acquired by IBM. Prior to Corio, Roger was the manager of internet products at Edify Corporation. Roger was also the co-founder and president of NetMarket, an online consumer internet service that was acquired by Cendant Corporation. He co-founded and is actively involved with SMART, an organization that provides financially-disadvantaged students with access to educational opportunities, personal experiences and social support services. Roger has been named to the Forbes Midas List and graduated with distinction from Yale University with a BA in political science.
